Universal credit has less people claiming than ever

The government has rolled out new unemployment schemes which has made people more reluctant to claim. The cost of living crisis has put more pressure on families and homeowners to have a strict budget. 6.4 million people currently claim universal credit but 25 percent of people have said that they are reluctant to apply because of the payments being only once a month and the amount not being enough to try. The DWP believe that the rate of claimants should go back to normal by the end of this summer with the government pledging 2.5 billion to career support.
