Innovative STI testing and treatment methods are now meaning patients within Liverpool are now receiving their results and starting their treatment in just the space of a few hours, as well as online testing helped by rapid laboratory results.
Liverpool has high numbers if STIs however, this is because the city has one of the highest testing rates in the country.
As last year Liverpool had a record number of people getting tested for STIs and HIV. This helped with early detection of infection and prompt treatment.
Innovative new PrEP Express clinics started by axess sexual health are giving people easier access to medication. From this they are allowing some people to get their repeat prescriptions without having to see a doctor or nurse.
This will then make appointments for doctors more accessible for people. Axess also have dedicated clinics for young people, Trans and non-binary people.
